Bullying has a negative impact on everyone. All successful human interaction requires trust and respect. Bullying destroys both. Being bullied can make you feel like you aren’t important. Sometimes you might believe what the bully says about you is true. Also, being bullied can make it more difficult to have friends. Bullying might give you a temporary feeling of power or control, but it doesn’t make you happy. It can make it more difficult for you to feel good about yourself. It can interfere with making real friends. How do you want to be remembered: as a bully or as a friend? When you witness bullying and don’t do anything about it you are failing to help another in need. You also miss a chance to strengthen a friendship or make a new friend.
The Anti-Bullying Pledge:
I believe everyone has the right to feel safe. I will commit to standing strong against bullying. I will treat others with respect and kindness. I have the compassion to not be a bully and the courage to not be a bystander. It is my responsibility to help others who are being bullied and to report bullying when I see it or when it happens to me. I will not stand by. I will stand up.
